OUR NORMS
In Mok-Borreeyn we value:
ReligionThis term is an important one particularly for those who are preparing to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation or Eucharist. Please see the news letter for important dates. Our current RE unit is "The sacraments of initiation- Eucharist". We are learning to understand the sacrament of the Eucharist: How and why it is celebrated and how God is present in that celebration. Check out this link for further information on the background to the Eucharist http://www.togetheratonealtar.catholic.edu.au/ Making connections with Eucharist at VIC ParkThe students were able to gather as a group, pray together and share a meal to help enhance their learning and understanding of Eucharist. They have each now thought of an action that they can do for a member in their group.
Meet our ChicksWe have been lucky enough in Mok-Borreeyn to watch chicks hatch and grow in our very own classroom! Our chicks are helping us learn about life cycles.
We have been observing their physical changes and behaviours and keeping records of this in our 'Chick Diaries'. Feel free to pop in and see how much they have changed!! |
High Five to Saving Lives...Ambulance Victoria recently visited Emmaus PS and worked with our Mok-Borreeyn students.
The students looked at the role they can play in times of a medical emergency and how by being prepared, they can potentially save a life. The students went through a series of steps that can save time, such as staying calm; knowing their address; working with the 000 call taker; helping the paramedics and deciding on what they will do once they get home. Parents, why not ask your children how to recognise if a person is unconscious and how to check if they are breathing by looking, listening and feeling. They may also be able to practice putting you in the recovery position ensuring your airway is open. A highlight for the students was the ambulance tour where students spent time in the back of the ambulance and could experience the lights and sirens. For further information about Ambulance Victoria and Ambulance Victoria community programs please visit www.ambulance.vic.gov.au. Exploring Data
In Maths at the moment, students are exploring how to collect, display and interpret data. We encourage all students to discuss with their families how we use data in everyday life. This will assist in making our learning at school more meaningful! Huff and PuffEach morning the children have been engaging in Huff and Puff for 15 minutes. It is a time to get their bodies moving and their brains engaged. The children love participating and setting themselves new challenges each day.
We occasionally mix it up by doing dancing. Enjoy these videos of the children enjoying Huff and Puff! 2016 Sacramental ProgramRECONCILIATION
